Indeed, vlogs are an important part of digital culture. That's why students in COMM 221: Introduction to Digital Media taught by Dr. Ashley Hinck made vlogs as their end-of-the-semester projects. Students composed arguments about online communication that identified a problem, shortfall, or failing, and called for internet users to help them enact a solution--all designed for the vlog genre and YouTube context.
