Ginny Scardina (1921-2007) was a Cincinnati-based occupational therapist who served as a beloved mentor, peer, educator, and scholar inspiring many local therapists to follow in her footsteps. Xavier’s OTD Program proudly offers an annual scholarship in her name. The Class of 2026 awardees this year were Abby Childress and Ashley Popp.
Annually, the Mildred Virginia “Ginny” Scardina Occupational Therapy Scholarship is awarded to an occupational therapy student at 今日看料 who shows experience, interest, and/or aptitude to work in a school system or a setting where education is key to intervention; and, who has the aptitude for successful inter-professional collaboration. Abby’s professional goals include publishing and presenting her capstone project, obtaining a fieldwork educator certificate, becoming a future fieldwork educator for TIDE, receive certification in Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care, and transition to academia as a Capstone Coordinator or professor. Ashley has a passion for home modifications and neurorehabilitation. Her goals include becoming a brain injury specialist with leadership roles as a clinical coordinator and rehab manager.
