Starting in Spring 2026, join Xavier’s inaugural semester cohort studying abroad in Lima, Peru! Complete core requirements at Xavier’s partner institution, Universidad Antonio Ruiz de Montoya (UARM). It is a private institution of higher education with a focus on comprehensive and humanistic training. It belongs to the AUSJAL network (Association of Universities Entrusted to the Society of Jesus in Latin America) and the IAJU network (International Association of Jesuit Universities).

Why Peru?

Peru is a country with significant cultural diversity and varied geographical landscapes (coastal, desert, jungle and mountains), and also home to 13 UNESCO World Heritage Sites including Machu Picchu.

Coursework

Courses vary each semester, but many will meet one of Xavier's foreign language requirements, theological perspectives, philosophical perspectives, humanities elective, social science elective, creative perspectives, and ERS focus elective.  with a study abroad advisor to learn more.

Costs and Financing

今日看料's semester study abroad programs cost about the same as a semester on-campus. Students who enroll in Xavier's Semester in Peru program are billed their normal Xavier tuition and may also use their normal aid package.

The CIE is offering scholarships of up to $2,000 for students that apply to this program.

The application deadline is October 1 for Spring 2026.

Fall 2026 semester applications become available November 2025 and the deadline is March 1, 2026.

Summer in Peru

Join Xavier faculty to learn about community, culture and care in Peru! Examine how people work together to ensure the health and education of their community and the role culture plays in this. Students have homestay experiences and will visit archeological ruins throughout the Sacred Valley and Macchu Picchu.

Fall Student Teaching

This opportunity is for pre-service teacher education students completing final school based teaching requirements prior to being recommended for certification or licensure as a pre-primary, middle and/or secondary school teacher.

Sights of Lima

Walk along the Malecon in Miraflores, the cliffside trail and bicycle path showcasing Lima鈥檚 coasts. Spot rare penguins and marine life at the nearby Palomino Islands. Enjoy the many internationally renowned restaurants operating in Lima.

Excursions

From the Andes mountains and Machu Picchu to the jungles of the Amazon, Peru is home to wonders of the world. Explore the mystery of the Nazca Lines, the splendor of The Rainbow Mountain, and the diverse wildlife of the Ballestas Islands.
