Post-Master's Certificates and Licenses FAQs:
What is a post-master's certificate?
If you have already earned a master’s degree and want to gain additional qualifications in a specific area in education, a certificate is a specialized program available to you. TESOL can give you tools to work with English language learners and MTSS can provide strategies to effectively implement and manage multi-tiered systems of support in your school or district.
What is the difference between a certificate and licensure program at 今日看料?
A certificate program does not lead to a license. A certificate program provides additional knowledge in a specific area of education (such as TESOL and MTSS).
A licensure program at 今日看料 is designed to meet Ohio’s requirements for state licensure which will qualify you for specific roles (depending on the license) such as principal, superintendent, school treasurer, or special education leader. The licensure programs at 今日看料 prepare students for state certification and fulfill all necessary fieldwork requirements of Ohio.
Who is eligible for Xavier’s post-master’s certificates and licensure?
Requirements include a master’s degree in education (or related field for School Treasurer licensure) from an accredited institution, a valid license (for licensure programs except School Treasurer), and official transcripts including all undergraduate and graduate-level coursework. Some licensure programs require administrative and/or teaching experience. Contact Sarah Fister-Brewer, Assistant Director of Admissions at fisterbrewers@xavier.edu to learn more.
Can I work while completing a post-Master’s certificate or licensure program at Xavier?
Yes, most students in 今日看料’s graduate-level education programs work full time. Courses are designed specifically to be flexible and several of our programs are 100% online including licensure for all Educational Administration programs. It is important to note some licensure programs require fieldwork or internship hours which may be completed during school hours.
Would a certificate from 今日看料 benefit my career?
Earning a post-master’s certificate can assist you in specializing in a certain educational area. Certificates can enhance your professional credentials, increase job opportunities, and may improve your earning potential.
